Akhand Path Sahib
An Akhand Path is the continuous, uninterrupted recitation of the entire holy Sikh scripture, the Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, from beginning to end (all 1,430 pages). Performed by a relay team of readers called Paathis, it typically takes around 48 hours to complete without a single moment of pause.

Akhand Path Sahib
A Sehaj Path (also called a Sadharan Path) is a slow and peaceful reading of the entire Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, the holy book of the Sikhs. Unlike an Akhand Path, which is read non-stop in 48 hours, a Sehaj Path has no time limit. A person can read it at their own speed over weeks, months, or even years

Sukhmani Sahib Path and Kirtan at a gurdwara is a peaceful, devotional service dedicated to reciting the 24 hymns of Sukhmani Sahib from the Guru Granth Sahib, taking about 60 to 90 minutes, and accompanied by musical Gurbani Kirtan and community Langar.

Hosting a Sukhmani Sahib Path and Kirtan at your residence brings divine peace, gratitude, and positive energy into you home. The sacred recitation takes about 2 to 3 hours, covering 35 Ashtapadis (sections), and is usually followed by Gurbani Kirtan, an Ardaas, and serving Guru-ka-Langar or simple vegetarian refreshments to the Sangat.

Anand Karaj
Anand Karaj means “blissful union” or act towards happiness”. It is the sacred Sikh wedding ceremony. Introduced by the early Sikh Gurus, the rite centers on the Guru Granth Sahib (the holy scripture) and features the couple walking around it four times while hymns called Laavaan are sung.

A Sikh funeral, known as Antam Sanskar, usually happens within three days of passing. It focuses on celebrating the soul’s return to the Creator rather than open grief. Services involve prayers and hymns at home, the Gurdwara, and a crematorium, followed by a community meal (langar).
History
Welcome to Guru Nanak Gurdwara Bedford, a vibrant cornerstone of the local Sikh community since our official opening in 2007.
Built in traditional Sikh architectural style using pink Indian granite and marble, our 2.5-acre complex features a beautiful 600-capacity main worship hall and an adjoining community centre. Guided by the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, we are dedicated to spiritual growth, the practice of Vand Chhako (sharing with others), and welcoming visitors of all faiths. Whether you are joining us for daily prayers, sharing a meal in the Langar (free community kitchen), or participating in our educational and youth programmes, our doors are open to everyone.
